Wladimir Klitschko, Ukrainian boxer, releasing NFT series to support relief efforts

Wladimir Klitschko is launching a series of non-fungible tokens (NFT) to help Ukraine’s military effort. He is a renowned Ukrainian boxing star and two-time heavyweight championship winner. The collection’s proceeds will be given to Red Cross Ukraine as well as UNICEF. The name of the NFT series is “Vandalz for Ukraine: WhIsBe x Wladimir Klitschko.” The series will be created in association with artist WhIsBe and will be available to mint NFTs in USD 100, USD 1,000, and USD 10,000 increments. This collection is one of several NFT-related projects that have been launched in recent weeks in support of Ukraine.

Klitschko said in a statement, “It’s a great project, art is at the service of people who are suffering. Art may be lovely on many fronts when utilised to benefit mankind.”

WhIsBe stated in a statement, “I’m happy for the chance to be of service for the larger good. It’s remarkable to be able to utilise my effort and this emergent technology to provide relief to  people in need and bring quick relief to any section on the globe.”

Klitschko and his brother Vitali, the current mayor of Kyiv and a former champion boxer, have become the faces of the country’s military fighting, having both decided to fight on the front. In another development, on March 2, an NFT of the Ukrainian flag sold for USD 6.75 million, bringing the total cryptocurrency contributions made to Ukraine during the war to more than USD 50 million.
