Ukraine cancels crypto airdrop and says it will now release NFTs

Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced on Twitter that a much-discussed “airdrop” to citizens who fund crypto to the country has been cancelled, and that non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to help Ukraine’s Armed Forces will now be planned instead.

Today Fedorov said on Twitter.  “After much thinking, we have decided to cancel the airdrop.” Every day, many individuals are wanting to help Ukraine in repelling the assault. Rather, we will shortly introduce NFTs to assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”We have no planning to launch any fungible tokens,”

The scheduled airdrop, which was first “approved” by the Ukrainian government on March 2, resulted in a surge of crypto donations to the country, with thousands of small funds ranging from ETH 0.0001 to ETH 0.01 overflowing the Ethereum blockchain.

According to Dune Analytics data, the number of possible wallets that donated cryptocurrency after the airdrop notification has already surpassed the number of unique wallets that donated before the announcement.

Despite the fact that the planned airdrop has been postponed, some members of the crypto community who have donated appear to be unaffected.
