Square Enix, a conventional gaming business, has announced a collaboration with the metaverse-based network The Sandbox. Dungeon Siege, an RPG experience that has sold over 1.7 million copies and generated a series of sequels, will be the company’s first IP.
The partnership will include two methods for incorporating Dungeon Siege into the metaverse. Square Enix will develop an interactive piece of land for users to enjoy experiences that include Dungeon Siege features, as well as to identify how these aspects may be integrated to create their own stories.
The second integration will include voxel features based on the Dungeon Siege environment allowing users to construct their own experiences utilising the integrated Voxedit and Game Developer tools.
This is Square Enix’s first effort into a metaverse-based platform. However, the corporation has already stated that it was considering a strong entry into blockchain and play-to-earn (P2E) experiences with NFT features.
The Sandbox has collaborated with other gaming firms and these gaming firms introduce their IPs to the platform. This is also true for Ubisoft, which added its Rabbids intellectual property to the platform in February.
