Splinterlands game moves to DPoS nodes mechanism Splintershards (SPS)

The Splinterlands team has announced that it is ready to shift to a completely decentralised node structure known as Splintershards (SPS). Delegated proof-of-state (DPoS) consensus will be used in the forthcoming system.

Splinterlands is one of the most popular play-to-earn card games on the market. It revealed the design and timing for its most important upgrade to date today, April 14, 2022. The node validator software for Splinterlands will be 100% open source and distributed for free, but node licences will be provided on a fee basis for SPS holders.

The new programme will be provided as a docker container at first, allowing tech-savvy users to install it on Linux-powered devices. Windows and MacOS versions will be available soon. Splintershards’ DPoS paradigm will allow SPS holders to vote for validator node accounts to elect network participants accountable for validating SPS transactions and maintaining control over SPS foundation money.

The mechanism, which is expected to go live on the mainnet in Q3-Q4 2022, would offer a new reward structure for all Splinterlands ecosystem players. A mix of SPS tokens and VOUCHER tokens will be used to purchase SPS licences (a total of 60,000). Then, 80 percent of the SPS tokens spent on licences and 100 percent of the VOUCHER tokens spent on licences will be permanently destroyed.

To incentivize SPS node operators, the remaining 20% of SPS tokens will be transferred to the SPS Foundation pool.
