Wikileaks founder and crypto artist Pak working on a top secret NFT collaboration

The anonymous crypto artist Pak’s recent NFT collaboration with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is scheduled to be released next week.

Since April 2019, Assange has been detained in a London jail after his asylum status at the Ecuadorian embassy in London was terminated. The following month, he was charged in the Eastern District Court of Virginia with 17 counts of espionage related to classified documents that he had disclosed on Wikileaks.

When Wikileaks announced the collaboration on Twitter, it used the hashtag #FreeAssangeNOW. The project’s name, “Censored,” further implies that the NFTs are being sold to help Assange’s legal fights.

Who is the anonymous crypto artist Pak?

Pak, one of the first artists to gain significant success in the NFT domain, began minting NFTS in February 2020. They made headlines in March 2021 when they sold two artworks for close to a million dollars: Finite for $809,789.40 on Foundation and Metarift for $904,413.47 on MarkersPlace.

Although Wikileaks openly shares private information with the public, project specifics such as the pricing, the content shown in the NFTs, and the sales platform have not been revealed. It will include a one-of-one that will be auctioned off as well as an open edition that anyone can purchase.

Wikileaks hinted at the number of open edition NFTs available in late January when it uploaded a graphic on Twitter with the text “one thousand.”
