Whitepay, a crowdfunding platform, claims to raise USD 2 million in tether

A new fundraising portal that aims to assist generate donations for Ukrainians and the Ukrainian military recently claimed to have raised USD 2 million in tether, the stablecoin. Some of the donated crypto assets have gone to the Ukrainian army and a humanitarian charity that supports volunteers.

Whitepay, a fundraising site that aims to help Ukrainian people and military personnel, recently announced that it has raised USD 2 million USDT. According to a tweet of March 6, part of the USDT has subsequently been given to the Ukrainian Army to meet its medical requirements.

The statement by Whitepay, which was formed by Estonian cryptocurrency exchange Whitebit and a Ukrainian fintech and crypto entrepreneur named Gleb Udovychenko, came as some sources claimed Ukraine had received bitcoin worth USD 50 million in only one week. Reports of the appeal came as Russia’s invasion and bombardment of Ukrainian targets intensified.

Udovychenko, who is also the CEO of Whitepay, insisted on the Ukrainians continuing until Russian soldiers leave the country. In addition to requesting cryptocurrency donations on behalf of Ukrainian military forces, Whitepay stated in another tweet that it is raising money to assist the Ukrainian Ministry of Healthcare as well as people harmed by conflicts.
