TravelX partners with Air Europa to launch world’s first NFT flight tickets

TravelX and Air Europa announced on Monday that the world’s first non-fungible token (NFT) flight ticket collection, “NFTickets” will be released. According to the firm, the owner can use the NFT to get a matching aeroplane ticket.

TravelX claims to be developing the first blockchain-based distribution mechanism in the travel sector. Air Europa, on the other hand, is Spain’s third-largest airline, with over 60 destinations worldwide.

Air Europa trip to Miami Beach

The release confirmed that purchasers of the NFTs “The Art as the Destination” will have access to a unique Air Europa trip to Miami Beach as well as the Americas’ greatest art event, which will take place in December.

The NFTickets were designed in a series of ten in collaboration with different artists and will be distributed every 14 days via TravelX’s auction site.

“We’re thrilled to be the first airline to use blockchain technology for inventory management and distribution. We’re eager to see where this will take travel in general and how it will improve customer experience,” said Bernardo Botella, Air Europa’s Global Sales Director.

NFTickets, like standard NFTs, are individually unusual and recorded on the blockchain, according to TravelX. Ximena Casinos, the curator of the NFTicket series, commissioned renowned multidisciplinary artist Carlos Bentancourt for the inaugural piece.

TravelX making efficient travel industry

The NFTs were created using Algorands’ carbon-negative blockchain technology, which is both energy-saving and environmentally benign. TravelX is currently developing a blockchain-based distribution system aimed at making the travel industry more safe, decentralised, seamless, open, and effective.
