Transition of Web2 companies to Web3 companies pushes institutional investors to invest in crypto

Institutional investors are gradually entering the cryptocurrency industry, either directly acquiring assets or investing in crypto-focused projects. According to Flament, the transition of Web2 companies to Web3 is increasing institutional investor participation in the cryptocurrency space.

On adding to that Flament, CEO of NEAR Foundation says an increasing number of institutions are planning to invest in cryptocurrencies. During an interview she mentioned this at the ongoing Paris Blockchain Week Summit.

Marieke Flament, CEO of NEAR Foundation stated that:

“We are seeing a very strong appetite from institutional investors to understand the space, to understand where they can participate.”

In many parts of the world, the crypto space remains largely unregulated. Flament believes that regulation will have a significant impact on how involved institutions will be in the cryptocurrency industry.

Flament went on to say that one of the NEAR Foundation’s priorities is to help spearhead regulation for the crypto ecosystem.

Several countries, including the United States, are developing policies to properly regulate the rapidly expanding cryptocurrency industry.

Decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) are gaining popularity in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Flament expressed her excitement about the emergence of DAOs and what they have to offer the cryptocurrency space.

The fact that DAOs are decentralised is a huge plus for the market, and Flament intends to attract more of them to the NEAR blockchain.

NEAR, the native token of the Near blockchain, is one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization. It is the 18th-largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization and one of the fastest-growing.
