Three people admit guilt to crypto-related wire fraud in New Hampshire

Nobody (previously Richard Paul) of Keene, New Hampshire, and Andrew Spinella and Renee Spinella of Derry, New Hampshire, have pled guilty to wire fraud using cryptocurrency.

According to a press statement from the Department of Justice, Andrew Spinella, Renee Spinella, and Nobody reportedly established bogus bank accounts to allow Ian Freeman, another defendant in this case, to trade cryptocurrency. Renee Spinella and Nobody created business accounts in the names of the “Crypto Church of New Hampshire” and “Church of the Invisible Hand,” respectively. Andrew Spinella opened a personal account.
“The defendants participated in the operation of an unlawful virtual currency company by utilising deceptive techniques to mislead banks about the true purpose of these bank accounts,” said U.S. Attorney Farley in a statement released by the DOJ.
In March of 2021, Andrew Spinella, Renee Spinella, Nobody, and three others were charged with enabling the operation of an illegal cryptocurrency-based money transportation business that generated over $10 million in fees.
The Spinellas and Nobody will be sentenced in July 2022, while the rest of the accused will be punished in November.
