This former Goldman Sachs’ CEO finds his Crypto views evolving

In an interview with CNBC this week, Lloyd Blankfein, a former Goldman Sachs CEO who has previously expressed pessimism about Bitcoin, claimed his position is “changing.”

From 2006 through September 2018, Blankfein served as Goldman Sachs’ chairman and chief executive officer, and he remained chairman until December 2018. He is now the Goldman Sachs Group’s senior chairman. He was asked if his opinion on cryptocurrencies has changed as a result of the present market conditions and the fact that traditional institutions, such as Goldman Sachs, are now offering cryptocurrency services such as trading and custody.

Blankfein answered:

“Look, my perspective on it is changing… I can’t forecast the future, but I believe it’s important to be able to predict the present, such as ‘What’s going on?’ And when I look at the crypto, I see that it is taking place.”

Blankfein warned in January of last year that regulators will target the cryptocurrency industry by saying, “If I were a regulator, I’d be hyperventilating right now at the success of it and I’d be equipping myself to deal with it.”
