According to a company announcement, Ubisoft and the Rabbids will be joining the blockchain-based virtual world “The Sandbox.” Ubisoft is well known for its multimedia brands such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s, Prince of Persia, Rabbids, and Rayman. According to The Sandbox, the project has “strategically teamed with Ubisoft to introduce Ubisoft game IP aspects to The Sandbox gaming metaverse.” To begin, Ubisoft is bringing characters from the Rabbids franchise, a Rayman-inspired video game spin-off.
The Rabbids video game and TV series have increased in popularity over the years, with IGN stating in 2006 that the game is “engaging and addicting, and the title’s sense of humour is in a league of its own.” Ubisoft has previously taken a step into the area of non-fungible token (NFT) technology by showing Tom Clancy’s game franchise, which uses NFTs that operate on the Tezos blockchain.
Ubisoft will create an entertainment zone with interactive experiences in the Sandbox metaverse. The senior manager of Ubisoft’s new business and partnerships, Guillaume Mammi, stated that the company is excited about entering the blockchain metaverse world.
