Artists may soon be allowed to market their NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on the Spotify platform if a pilot launch goes smoothly, Music Ally stated on Friday.
Spotify platform was the latest big business to hop on the NFT bandwagon, launching “Spotify Island” on Roblox on May 3rd. Spotify will now trial NFTs on the platform to specifically chosen US consumers, beginning with a single trial selection of artists, including Steve Aoki and The Wombats.
Spotify platform will not take a portion of sales
Users will have to acquire NFTs through an external marketplace, thus they won’t be sold directly. As part of the test, the Spotify platform has stated that it would not take a portion of sales.
Users have also alleged that the Spotify platform is sending out polls and even compensating some people for talks with team members regarding their feelings about NFTs and web3. On Twitter, individuals have asked about emotion, cryptocurrency purchases, and why people purchase NFTs.
Spotify to test digital collectibles
Spotify’s interest in web3 has been rumoured since the business placed two job adverts in March for working on early-stage web3 projects. The development comes only days after Meta revealed that it will begin testing digital collectibles & NFTs on Instagram as well.
