The SEC Office of Investor Education and Advocacy launched a “investor education” campaign this week that includes a number of game-shows.
The “Investomania” campaign features a 30-second television commercial, a 15-second educational film on crypto assets, FOMO, interactive questions, margin calls, and guaranteed returns.
This game has two competitors and a host. First, the TV host advises the participants to choose a square on a game board that includes options such as online rumours, celebrity endorsements, and guaranteed returns. Market Timing, Crypto to the Moon, and Tulip Bulbs are some more options.
According to the commission, the ad “encourages investors to investigate investments and get information from reliable sources before investing.”
Following the judgments of the competitors, the film humorously depicts the consequences of a good or terrible answer.
According to the regulator, “Investment might look and feel like a game… To inform investors in a pleasant way, our social service initiative incorporates the concept of a game show.”
Because venture capital “is not a match-making business,” the regulatory agency advised investors to proceed with caution when making investment decisions.
The Commission said in a recent accounting bulletin that there are risks linked with crypto assets. It was noticed that the price and availability of cryptocurrency assets vary regularly, separating them from traditional financial assets.
