Sandbox collaborates with Jamiroquai jazz band

The Animoca Brands subsidiary, Sandbox, announced a collaboration with Jamiroquai, a famed funk and acid jazz band best known for their global blockbuster hit “Virtual Insanity” in 1996.

The purpose of the strategic partnership, according to the official blog post, is to bring the song, which was published as the second single from their third studio album, Travelling Without Moving, to its virtual LAND in The Sandbox.

While the song did manage to catch the audience and even win a Best Video award at the VMAs more than two decades ago, director Jonathan Glazer revealed that no “computer trickery” was used in the renowned floor moving concept.

To give fans a taste of what to expect in the virtual world, Jamiroquai released a 38-second teaser of the iconic song in pixel format.

Jamiroquai stated the following:

“Creating a LAND where everyone can come together in The Sandbox with a little of funk, freedom, and fashion will provide a communal place to digitally interact with our fans and fellow music enthusiasts will provide a communal place to digitally connect with our followers and fellow music lovers. We’ll let you know more shortly, but for now, know that hats will undoubtedly be involved.”

The Sandbox metaverse has quickly established itself as one of the most prominent metaverse players. The Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) revealed earlier this month that it has purchased its first plot of land in The Sandbox metaverse to put up virtual offices.
The Sandbox has over 200 partnerships, including Ubisoft, The Rabbids, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, The Smurfs, and CryptoKitties, to name a few.
