Pubg developer Krafton to enter NFT and Metaverse space

Krafton, the developer of the massively popular PUBG game, which made more than $300 million in revenue last year, is shifting its focus to metaverse and NFT initiatives. On February 8th, the business stated that it has invested in two companies: Seoul Auction Blue ($2.5 million) and Xbyblue ($4.1 million). Xbyblue provides technologies to secure and curate digital art IP to be marketed in digital markets, and Seoul Auction Blue maintains a cooperative art purchasing platform named Sotwo.

Krafton will be able to provide NFT avatars and other items based on its PUBG Battlegrounds game, which became free-to-play last year, thanks to its partnership with these two companies.

In addition, the company announced a third partnership with Naver Z to develop a Web3 and NFT-based platform. Zepeto, a four-year-old platform that runs a metaverse-based project that allows participants to connect using 3D avatars and augmented reality technologies, is owned by Naver Z. The yet-to-be-named metaverse experience will be built with Naver Z’s technology and platform, and will draw on Krafton’s experience to generate the world’s assets.

This enhancement, according to the press release, will also include the ability for users to create their own content on the site.

Companies ‘entering into NFT’ is the trend these days.
