United States President Donald Trump will speak at Blockworks’ Digital Asset Summit in New York on March 20, according to an announcement from the conference organizers. Blockworks confirmed on March 19 that Trump’s address, delivered via pre-recorded video, is scheduled for 10:40 a.m.
Trump’s appearance marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has addressed a cryptocurrency conference, highlighting a significant shift in the federal government’s relationship with digital assets. The move underscores Trump’s ongoing embrace of the crypto industry, a stark contrast to the Biden administration’s more aggressive regulatory stance, which saw over 100 enforcement actions against digital asset firms.
“When we started Blockworks, we could barely get someone from a bank to attend an event,” said Blockworks co-founder Jason Yanowitz in a post on X. “Now we have a sitting US President addressing 2,500 institutional participants. It is incredible how far this industry has come.”
Trump has been vocal in his support for cryptocurrency since his 2024 presidential campaign. At the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, he pledged to make America the “world’s crypto capital” and proposed forming a national Bitcoin reserve.
Since taking office on January 20, President Trump has signed several executive orders aimed at integrating digital assets into the U.S. economy. These include the formation of a White House crypto advisory team and the creation of a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile. He has also appointed pro-crypto figures to leadership roles at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Treasury Department.
Earlier this week, Bo Hines, executive director of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, addressed the Summit. Notably, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the SEC’s decision to drop its long-standing case against the company during the event, part of a broader trend under the Trump administration, which has also seen cases dropped against Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap.
While Trump’s exact speech topics remain under wraps, industry leaders are hoping for regulatory clarity, particularly around stablecoins and taxation. White House representatives have not yet responded to media inquiries regarding the president’s planned remarks.
