Bitcoin hater Peter Schiff declares himself to be Satoshi Nakamoto?

A well-known Bitcoin detractor has jokingly declared himself to be the mysterious Bitcoin developer — Satoshi Nakamoto.

Peter Schiff, the chairman of SchiffGold and a lifelong Bitcoin hater, took to Twitter to wish the community a Happy April Fool’s Day. Following Binance CZ’s joke about his being Satoshi Nakamoto, Schiff apparently claimed that he was truly the creator of the largest worldwide cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, in 2008-2009 (and the first crypto ever back then).

Schiff stated on Twitter that he has “billions of Bitcoin” and is continuing to acquire BTC. As a result, he added, he has been continually hammering Bitcoin with the goal of breaking free from “paper hands” and eventually purchasing the whole BTC quantity of 21 million coins so that he may have “the moon all to himself.” In a subsequent tweet, Schiff said that he included the reference to “the moon” to ensure that everyone understood his April 1 joke.

He also made it clear that he wanted to be certain that no one took my April Fool’s joke seriously. He didn’t want to be held accountable for any idiots who bought #Bitcoin.

The crypto community has spent a long time attempting to find out who among the current crypto influencers may be Satoshi Nakamoto. Among the “candidates” are Hal Finney (who died in 2014), Adam Back (CEO of Blockstream), and some have joked that it is Elon Musk.

The Story of Fake Satoshis

Several self-proclaimed Satoshis appeared in 2018–2019, the most active of which was Craig Wright, founder of Bitcoin SV, who used aggressive methods to establish that he was the true Bitcoin inventor.

He sued many prominent members of the cryptocurrency community, all of whom rejected his accusations, including Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum.

Craig Wright lost a case he began against 16 high-profile Bitcoin inventors, including Gregory Maxwell, Pieter Wuille, and Peter Todd.
