OpenSea previously allowed unlimited collections and items. The platform changed its policy to only allow a creator to use 5 NFT collections with 50 items per collection when using the OpenSea Collections Store contract. NFT creators argue that they might not be able to finish their unfinished collections because of the changes. The platform reversed the limitations today by tweeting their apologies for no longer previewing the choice with its community. It stated that the motive was to stop the misuse of the network, and that “over 80% of the items created with this tool were plagiarized works, fake collections, and spam.”
Dingalings, a prominent crypto influencer, argues that OpenSea`s recommendations allow exploiters to view the cancellation order for formerly listed prices at the blockchain. Now, attackers can pay better fuel line costs to have their order processed earlier than the cancellation. The practice is known as “front-running”, thus, buying the NFT for a cheaper price. To save yourself from this, Dingalings advises to “transfer all the NFTs with “inactive OpenSea listings” OUT of your address first before canceling the live listings in your original address. Only after all the listings are canceled are you safe to transfer it back.”
OpenSea claims to have addressed these problems via means of converting the default list length from 6 months to 1 month, constructing a dashboard to reveal customers their listings, and alerting them whilst an NFT transferred from their pockets has an related energetic list.
