Illuvium, a monster-battle roleplaying game using non-fungible tokens (NFTs), said on Sunday that it has raised more than $72 million in digital land sales.
The land was sold between June 2 and 5, 2022. Of the 20,000 available plots of land, 19,969 were sold, with the remaining 31 plots kept for future giveaways.
Illuvium also mentions that there were no gas wars during the property sale, which occurs when Ethereum gas prices rise owing to increased demand from users to perform transactions on the blockchain quickly. This is because Illuvium uses the Immutable engine, developed by scaling tech developer Immutable, to reduce NFT transaction costs and enable NFT self-custody.
In the world of Illuvium, the player begins by landing on a distant planet named Illuvium and meeting odd creatures known as Illuvials, whom the player may then capture and use in combat. Battles grant the player prizes and experience points, allowing them to proceed into the increasingly difficult terrain of Illuvium.
Illuvium will be available for PC and Mac in the third quarter of 2022. Players may buy weapons and armour as NFTs to use during gameplay, which can then be resold on the in-game marketplace IlluviDEX, which has yet to launch.
