MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet that also serves as a gateway to blockchain applications. It can also be used to interface with decentralised apps (DAPP). Firefox, Google Chrome, and Chromium-based browsers are all supported by the app. The business said that it now allows iPhone or Apple Pay customers to purchase bitcoins with debit or credit cards using the mobile app without transferring funds from cryptocurrency exchanges.
To facilitate transactions, MetaMask employs two payment gateways: Wyre and Transak. Users may now purchase ETH using credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) saved in Apple Pay and deposit up to $400 into their wallets using the Wyre API. “We wanted to broaden how users may convert cryptocurrency within the app itself without having to leave it,” said James Beck, ConsenSys’ Director of Communications and Content.
Last month, the Ethereum software firm ConsenSys bought the Ethereum interface MyCrypto, with the goal of integrating MyCrypto with ConsenSys’ MetaMask wallet and improving the security of all products.
