Gamestop all set to launch its own NFT marketplace to provide gaming NFTs to customers

GameStop is preparing to enter the NFT field with its GameStop NFT marketplace. Customers can explore and buy gaming NFTs that can then be exchanged on prominent marketplace platforms.

GameStop is collaborating with Immutable X, Ethereum based layer two blockchain. To keep expenses low, Immutable X promised no gas fees for minting and exchanging NFTs. This may assist the gaming giants in overcoming technological regulations and introducing lower-cost rates in order to attract consumers.

The marketplace recently created its official Twitter account and is aggressively boosting its social presence.

The store has employed more than 20 individuals to oversee the operation, which is developing an online marketplace for buying, selling, and exchanging virtual gaming products. The corporation stated that an NFT marketplace will be launched by the end of the second quarter of the fiscal year 2022, which is scheduled for July.

GameStop Corp. is a video game, electronics, and gaming accessories company established in the United States. Grapevine, a Dallas suburb, is the home of the world’s largest video gaming shop.

GameStop into NFT trend

GameStop’s struggling business model is receiving a fresh twist of life. NFTs are increasingly being included in the company’s strategy. People expected GameStop to be the final retailer to sell NFTs. This only did make sense for GameStop to jump on the blockchain and NFT trend after Square Enix and Ubisoft.

Robbie Ferguson, co-founder of Immutable X, stated last month that the game might be released four to eight weeks early, between June 1 and June 30.

GameStop in a labor dispute

This news came to light when GameStop was involved in a labour dispute. A former worker has charged GameStop under a violation of New York labour rules. He has filed a class-action case against the company. According to New York Labor Law Section 191, 25% of their work comprises manual and physical labour. The lawsuit claims that GameStop paid him as well as other workers every 2 weeks instead of weekly.
