According to the New York Post report, Equinox, one of the world’s best premium gym brands, is preparing to begin accepting cryptocurrencies after working with major crypto payment service provider BitPay to attract more wealthy customers. The company has not disclosed the list of accepted cryptocurrencies. However, it is expected that the list will be released in the second half of May 2.
The Upper West Side of Manhattan’s Upper West Side is where the American premium fitness firm was formed 30 years ago. Equinox is notorious for its contentious and provocative marketing campaigns that emphasise luxury and excess, in addition to its expensive costs. Journalist Anderson Cooper and Shawn Mendes are among Equinox’s top members. These famous people frequently reference the gym on their social media platform to strengthen the gym reputation.
Customers may pay up to $500 per month for luxury amenities such as vacant locker rooms and full-body showers with temperature controls. Additionally, VIP clients might have their shoes polished. According to sources, some Equinox gyms in Georgia, New Jersey, and other states have already started accepting cryptocurrency.
Equinox isn’t the only luxury company to embrace cryptocurrency, though. High-profile corporations aim to attract wealthy customers by allowing them to pay with digital assets directly. Nike has launched its first Dunk Genesis Cryptokicks sneakers on Ethereum in collaboration with RTFKT studios in the metaverse, demonstrating how the sports world is willing to cash in on the increasing trend of virtual reality. The German fashion designer Philipp Plein, the creator of the well-known fashion label of the same name, indicated that bitcoin purchases are becoming more popular.
