While the quote was clearly fabricated for comedic effect, the post was widely interpreted as a jab at the growing wave of online crypto scams. These often involve fake profiles—frequently posing as attractive women—luring victims into fraudulent investments or phishing schemes.
Musk’s post, part satire and part public service announcement, comes as crypto markets remain under scrutiny following a series of high-profile hacks and platform failures. It highlights the persistent risks of social engineering tactics in the digital asset space, where billions have been lost to deception.
