Coinbase introduces beta version of its NFT marketplace to small number of beta testers

Coinbase announced on May 4 that the beta version of its non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace is now open to the public. Coinbase said on April 20 that its NFT marketplace was live in beta and accessible to a small number of beta testers who had previously applied to join its waitlist in October, according to the report. For the past two weeks, these users have been able to buy and trade NFTs. However, everyone else can now use the platform.

The company tweeted on Wednesday afternoon that:

“What does it mean to be in open beta? It means we’re still working on adding more features to the product, but eager for you to help us build in public.”

Beta testers will be able to create a Coinbase NFT profile and purchase and sell NFTs using any self-custody wallet, including Coinbase Wallet. There will be no Coinbase transaction fees for a limited period.

It is worth noting that the NFT platform’s beta launch was hampered by poor patronage, which likely fueled the decision to offer Coinbase NFT to a much bigger audience.

Coinbase stated it plans for marketplace:

“In the coming weeks and months, we’ll add more features that will gradually bring our vision for a web3 social marketplace to life. We’re planning to add drops, minting, token-gated communities, and the option to buy NFTs with your Coinbase account or a credit card. We’ll also add support for NFTs on multiple chains. And over time, we intend to decentralize more features by moving them from Coinbase tech to decentralized solutions.’
