Cardano rewards “hackers” who find flaws in its network

Cardano, the smart contract-enabled blockchain, has stated that it is tripling the bug bounty for anybody who finds and reports any vulnerability on the network.

The bug bounty programme for the Charles Hoskinson-led project offers a four-tier payment scheme for defects discovered in either the Cardano wallet or the Cardano Node.

Previously, each low-risk vulnerability discovered on the Cardano wallet was rewarded with USD 300, which has now been raised to USD 600. Medium-risk vulnerabilities will now receive a USD 2,000 payment, while high-risk vulnerabilities will receive a USD 6,000 incentive. A white-hat hacker who discovers a major vulnerability may be compensated with up to USD 7.500. Because flaws must be addressed promptly, critical vulnerabilities receive the highest compensation.

Vulnerabilities or flaws identified on Cardano nodes, on the other hand, get a greater payout. Low vulnerability bugs will be rewarded with USD 800, while medium vulnerability bugs will be rewarded with USD 4,000. High vulnerabilities will receive a USD 10,000 incentive, while severe vulnerabilities will receive a USD 20,000 prize.

According to the Cardano Foundation, the higher bounty awards will only last six weeks, from February 14 to March 25, 2022.
