Bitcoin Argentina NGO aims to promote crypto education in high schools via “Schools and Bitcoin” initiative

Bitcoin Argentina is an NGO committed to the promotion and spread awareness about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in Argentina. It is bringing crypto education to Argentina’s high schools through the "Schools and Bitcoin" initiative.

According to data given by Chainalysis, Argentina is one of the nations in Latin America with a high crypto usage rate. Because of inflation and exchange limitations, some inhabitants of the nation have turned to crypto and bitcoin. Bitcoin Argentina, a non-profit organisation devoted to the growth of the Bitcoin ecosystem in Argentina, has chosen to establish a Bitcoin teaching initiative for high school students. The “Schools and Bitcoin” project, which was created in collaboration with the humanitarian organisation Built with Bitcoin, intends to educate high school students about this innovative alternative finance system.

According to Jimena Vallone of Bitcoin Argentina, the initiative is a continuation of a previous pilot project in which students from Argentina exhibited significant passion and interest in learning about Bitcoin. She elaborated:

“There is a desire to innovate, to know what is happening with Bitcoin and blockchain, and to train and learn. All this was the starting point to start thinking about the project, which begins with 40 schools, but we hope to have a larger number.”

“Schools and Bitcoin” seeks to reach over 4,000 high school students, with lessons and information tailored to each of the locations where these sessions will take place. Vallone commented on this:

“The content used will be varied, changing with each school. Argentina is a diverse country, so it is necessary to think about each context when introducing the material.”

The core will remain the same, with pupils learning about Bitcoin’s “transparent, open, inclusive, traceable, and secure” characteristics. This is said to be the first project of its sort in Latin America, where nations such as Brazil and Venezuela are known to be active in the cryptocurrency space.

The approval of the education initiative is significant in light of the debt restructuring agreement between Argentina and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which included a section recommending that the government restrict the usage of cryptocurrency in Argentina.
