According to a recent study, the number of people looking for a furry pet hit new records during the peak of COVID-19. The interesting thing to know about the news is that the people are looking not just at real life pets but also in virtual medium pets such as Metaverse. According to statistics for October 2021 from intelligence firm SimilarWeb, web traffic data mentioning “pets” or keywords referring to cats and dogs on the NFT marketplace OpenSea peaked at over 636,000. Internet searches for NFT dogs and associated terms showed a similar pattern.
In the Metaverse, there are a variety of methods to buy a pet, each with its own set of benefits. You may buy a dog and take it on a jog in the digital platform Decentraland, or you could just purchase a fish and keep it in a vase in your wardrobe. Another option for obtaining a pet inside the Metaverse is to purchase an NFT photograph from a marketplace such as OpenSea.
There are other projects that try to combine the digital and physical worlds that are gaining traction. You can scan and tokenize a 3D depiction of your pet in the actual world and bring them into the Metaverse using Classic Doge.
