According to a statement made today by Web3 domain name provider Unstoppable Domains, Blockchain.com would allow all 82 million of its wallet customers to connect their alphanumeric addresses to human-friendly NFT domain names. People can buy Unstoppable Domains domain names with one of ten extensions—.bitcoin,.coin,.crypto,.dao,.nft,.wallet,.x,.zil,.888, or the soon-to-be-released.blockchain—and use them with their Blockchain.com wallets.
This allows folks to see who they’re dealing with more easily. You can transfer ETH to Joe.crypto instead of the address starting with 0x631d. Unstoppable Domains is comparable to Ethereum Name Service in this way, which allows users to tie their.eth domain names to their wallets.
NFTs (short for non-fungible tokens) are blockchain-based digital records of ownership. Though typically associated with digital art and collectibles, the domain name in this case is an NFT, which means you own it and may transfer it. If this sounds familiar, you’re not mistaken. Blockchain.com added capability for delivering coins and tokens to.crypto sites last year. Users can now send cryptocurrency to any Unstoppable Domains address.
Blockchain.com is gradually improving its NFT capabilities. Late last year, the crypto exchange also introduced the Blockchain.com NFT marketplace. “Browse, buy, sell, and securely store NFTs without ever leaving your Blockchain.com Wallet,” according to the marketplace, which is still in development. Blockchain.com began as a Bitcoin block explorer in 2011 before introducing a wallet service to allow users to store their BTC. Unstoppable Domains’ blockchain network leverages Ethereum to mint NFTs, and it presently has 82 million wallets storing a variety of crypto assets.
