King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC), a Saudi Arabian medical institution, recently completed a blockchain deployment when it established “a digital credentialing solution” for all patients who use its services. The implementation was carried out through the Blockchain Lab, which was recently founded and has already discovered a number of feasible use cases for the technology.
The hospital may now publish digital certificates directly on the blockchain, where residents can verify them, thanks to the implementation of this technology. According to a statement made by the hospital, the implementation of this solution is in line with Saudi Arabia’s goal of developing blockchain expertise as well as the acceptance of this technology in healthcare.
Meanwhile, Majed Alfayyadh, the hospital’s CEO, is reported as praising the fact that KFSHRC is one of the country’s first institutions to implement blockchain technology. This implementation, he continued, “has [also] opened the door for genuine, applicable use cases within healthcare.”
Saudi Arabia’s IT decision-makers have chosen blockchain as one of the new technologies they aim to target in 2022 and beyond, according to a source. The adoption of the digital credentialing solution by KFSHRC indicates that Saudi Arabia’s IT executives are following through on their promise to prioritise technology.
Let us see whether other hospitals will follow KFSHRC’s footsteps or not.
