Sebastien Borget, the creator of the open-world blockchain game The Sandbox, gave some of his thoughts and experience on Web3 and the condition of the metaverse. The metaverse, according to Borget, is a portal to new experiences limited only by what people may imagine. The metaverse has already begun to influence how individuals “socialise, develop economic relationships, and gather in communities,” according to the Sandbox founder. He expects that more advances in space will occur within a decade.
Borget believes that the job of platforms should be to ensure that the process of creation is enjoyable and fulfilling, and that the priority should be to listen to what users desire. “We created this ecosystem, but it’s driven by the experiences and assets that players create and share,” adds Borget.
Apart from that, Borget believes that the metaverse’s governance should be handed over to the users. This will be accomplished by the establishment of a decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) with voting processes.
A decentralised metaverse is available in the Sandbox. This, according to Borget, implies that users are not locked into the platform. He explained, “It’s crucial to us that the stuff you own or create in The Sandbox may be moved to other open metaverses, and vice versa.” Borget also emphasises that decentralisation is the way forward, as opposed to being locked in a Web2 “microverse” where content ownership is monopolised by big companies.
Let us wait and watch all the potentials of Metaverse.
