Visa (V) launched the Creator Program, in which selected small company creatives from various sectors, including music, fashion, and cinema, would be provided assistance in growing their businesses through the use of non-fungible tokens (NFT).
Cuy Sheffield, Visa’s director of crypto, stated that NFTs have the potential to be a tremendous accelerator for the creator economy. He added that through the Visa Creator Program, we hope to assist this new breed of small and micro companies in gaining access to new digital commerce media.
According to Visa, the Creator Program is a one-year immersion into the world of NFTs that includes technical and product mentorship, community building, access to thought leaders, exposure to Visa clients and partners, and a one-time stipend.
Notably, as per Visa using stats from Influencer Marketing Hub, the so-called creative economy has a market value of more than $100 billion. Former Major League Baseball second baseman Micah Johnson, who debuted his NFT character Aku last year, was among the initial Creator Program participants. The announcement comes only a week after the company’s crypto product head quit to pursue a new opportunity in Web 3 payments.
