By 2026, one-fourth of individuals will spend at least one hour each day in the Metaverse, according to new research. This consists of work, shopping, education, socialising, and entertainment purposes. The report published by Gartner, a technology research and consulting company, states that companies are already preparing the infrastructure to allow their users to replicate their lives digitally in anticipation of this migration to the Metaverse. According to Gartner Vice President Marty Resnick, as users continue to demand virtual, interactive, three-dimensional experiences, businesses will need to collaborate in order to unify the Metaverse.
“From attending virtual schools to purchasing virtual property and constructing virtual homes,” he added, “these activities are already being undertaken in separate environments.” He estimates that by 2026, 30% of the world’s enterprises will have products and services in the Metaverse.
This comes after Strategy Analytics discovered that the worldwide Metaverse market is expected to reach over $42 billion by 2026. However, according to a Grayscale analysis published in November, the overall value could exceed a trillion dollars in the coming years. Between the beginning of 2020 and the end of 2021, the number of active Metaverse users increased 10 times.
Renick urged organisations and investors to act with caution, highlighting the nascent and fragmented adoption of metaverse technology.
