The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the world’s largest MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) organisation, will begin giving cryptocurrency bonuses to its fighters. The promotion has already worked with cryptocurrency companies, and the top three combatants in each pay-per-view event will now be paid in Bitcoin.
The winners of a “crypto-bonus” will be determined by fan voting. According to the organisation, three lucky fighters will share a total of $60,000, and the new sort of bonus will be added to standard cash awards for the greatest performance of the night, best bout of the night, and so on. Last year, the UFC negotiated a 10-year, $175 million sponsorship deal with a cryptocurrency-related company that provides bitcoin fans with exchange, storage, and trading solutions.
In 2021, crypto firms and platforms will spend millions in sponsorships for well-known companies such as UFC and sports leagues like MLB, FIFA, Formula 1, and other sports-related companies and franchises.
Fighters will earn their bonuses in Bitcoin at a predetermined dollar amount at the time of the event. The debut of crypto bonuses is expected at UFC 273: “Volkanovski vs. The main event of “The Korean Zombie” will be a featherweight title battle between Alexander Volkanovski and Chan Sung Jung. The bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan is the co-main event.
