According to the Wall Street Journal report of June 1, The Tribeca Film Festival, an annual event run by Tribeca Productions, has signed a contract with the cryptocurrency platform OKX. The sponsorship (worth tens of millions of dollars) will elevate the exchange to the ranks of main sponsors and will extend for the next three years. As the main sponsor of the Tribeca Film Festival, the platform might fund the development of Metaverse-themed films OKX will educate filmmakers and moviegoers about the benefits of cryptocurrency and Web3 technology during that time. Simultaneously, it intends to allow film participants to be compensated in digital currency for their efforts.
According to Jane Rosenthal, the event’s Chief Executive Officer, the festival will launch its own non-fungible tokens (NFTs) this year, with plans to delve deeper into the NFT sector in the coming years.
She remarked:
“We want to provide the tools to creators. Over the years to come, we will lean in, help them create these stories, and partner with hardware providers like Facebook.”
Rosenthal remarked that the relationship with OKX has similar ideals and aspirations to “drive forward new ways of storytelling and new ways of supporting artists in all different categories.”
The Tribeca Film Festival is a big event held in New York City each spring. This year, it will take place in Manhattan from June 8 to June 19. It was founded in 2002 by Oscar winner Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff with the goal of revitalising New York’s cultural life in the aftermath of the World Trade Centre attacks.
Many crypto platforms are signing sponsorship deals with a wide range of brands to expand their reach and spread awareness about crypto via these brands. Recently, crypto trading platform OKX maintained its connection with the sports business by securing a partnership with McLaren Racing, the premier Formula 1 team. The campaign resulted in the trading venue being the squad’s main sponsor.
Shortly after, Daniel Ricciardo, the Italian-Australian driver for McLaren Racing, connected with OKX on a personal level. During the 2022/23 season, he will act as its ambassador for an educational campaign for F1 fans focusing on the benefits of cryptocurrency.
