On June 28, Sony Network Communications, a division of Sony and Startale Labs, a Japanese provider of Web3 infrastructure, announced a new commercial partnership and a $3.5 million venture to provide the groundwork for the mainstream adoption of Web3.
Sony recently announced a fresh investment in creating a global infrastructure for assisting Web3, securing its position as a leader in the emerging technologies field.
The agreement will advance Startale’s creation of Web3 products and services, which includes its goal to produce all-in-one Web3 development solutions and emphasis on connecting physical assets with the ecosystem of Web3.
Startale Labs CEO Sota Watanabe stated that working with Sony enables a young Web3 firm like itself to “learn and leverage” a variety of things.
Sota Watanabe further commented and said, “When engaging with Web3, “Developers and users need to comprehend blockchain tech stacks. With the help of this technology, we can give regular users a smooth experience while they engage with the space.”
Jun Watanabe, president and official director for Sony Network Communications, was selected as director of Startale Labs along with the investment. The two businesses previously co-hosted a Web3 Incubation Program with success.
Watanabe is also one of the founders of the Polkadot-based parachain Astar Network, whose core team includes Startale Labs. Recently, Astar introduced two virtual machines supported by smart contracts, enabling the development of Ethereum Virtual Machine projects or WebAssembly throughout the network.
A strong provider of fibre optic internet service is Sony Network Communications. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), for example, have been utilised by various Sony divisions and domains in Web3 projects.
The PlayStation brand’s parent company, Sony Interactive Entertainment, filed a patent in March 2023 that will allow players to move and use NFTs on various gaming systems.
