Nio (NYSE: NIO), a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has followed Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) into the world of cryptocurrencies by providing NFTs to its employees.
According to a post by cnEVPost, citing information given by Ma Lin, Nio’s senior director of corporate communications, the firm has been experimenting with novel techniques to preserving links with its car owners, and it appears to be doing the same with its internal personnel management. Every year, the EV company gives brooches to its employees to mark its success, but this year it gave out NFT digital brooches.
The announcement comes just a few weeks after the corporation said it was “not involved” with cryptocurrencies. The company has now created employee-only NFTs, which will be distributed via lottery in both physical and digital formats.
Surprisingly, Nio’s NFT release coincides with China’s ban on the trading of cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
