The clone application was detected by supporters of Astroport (ASTRO), one of the most prominent decentralised finance applications in the Terra (LUNA) blockchain ecosystem.
Scammers posted a bogus Astroport application to a large digital marketplace, according to a message released on Twitter by anonymous crypto developer and enthusiast @TheMoonMidas.
The application masquerades as an authentic Astroport product for Android-based smartphones and tablets. It resembles the user interface of a real Astroport application but is unrelated to it. It was most likely generated by scammers looking to steal funds and private keys from Terra (LUNA) ecosystem participants.
The enthusiast supplied a screenshot of the application (titled “Astroport Swap”) and requested that all fans of Terra (LUNA) and Astroport (ASTRO) use an abuse notification tool to report the application to the administration.
Terra’s Twitter followers confirmed the false app’s existence, as well as the fact that Astroport (ASTRO) has never deployed mobile instrumentation.
Astroport (ASTRO) is a key component of Terra’s (LUNA) ecosystem’s decentralised cryptocurrency exchanges (DEXes), also known as “Terra’s meta AMM.” It’s becoming increasingly popular in the DeFi category, with TVL metrics nearly doubling in the previous six months.
It is currently Terra’s third largest protocol, trailing only giants Anchor (ANC) and Lido Finance (LDO).
