Space Runners, a metaverse fashion company, raised a $10 million funding led by Polychain and Pantera Capital. The seed round, which was announced on Monday, included angel investors such as Animoca Brands chairman Yat Siu and Twitch co-founder Justin Kan, as well as Accel and Jump Crypto.
High fashion and prominent wearables are becoming big business in the metaverse, which is an immersive environment made up of virtual worlds, games, and decentralised commerce, with Ethereum-based Decentraland organising its first Metaverse Fashion Week in the month end.
Space Runners, which unveiled its first NBA Champions Sneaker Collection in December alongside past NBA champions Kyle Kuzma and Nick Young, began minting NFTs on the Solana blockchain, but now plans to expand its “fashion metaverse” concept to Ethereum and other blockchains. The fashion metaverse created by Realm Runners will not coexist with existing virtual worlds, but rather exist in its own space, dubbed “Spaceverse,” with its own money.
