To promote coverage of the forthcoming March 9 presidential election, South Korean national broadcaster KBS created a recreation of its Seoul studio compound on Naver’s Zepeto metaverse on Tuesday.
According to the most recent data, Zepeto is a metaverse platform built by South Korean internet giant Naver, with 90 per cent of its 250 million members living overseas and 80 percent of them being teenagers.
Visitors can enter the digital replica of the broadcaster’s news studio, view stage sets, take election quizzes, walk through the history hall, and snap photographs.
Cryptocurrency and the metaverse are becoming campaign concerns in the forthcoming election, with Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung promoting the technology in order to persuade millennial and Gen Z voters.
The 2022 South Korean presidential election, also known as the 20th Republic of Korea presidential election in South Korea, is planned to take place on March 9, 2022, in South Korea. Lee is running against Yoon Seok-youl of the People Power Party, Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party, and Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Party to succeed President Moon Jae-in in the Blue House.
