Anthony Scaramucci, founder of Skybridge Capital, believes the blockchain business has a bright future, but he raises issues over what US lawmakers say is “very poor leadership”. He spoke openly about the present and future conditions of crypto and politics in the US at the Australian Financial Review Crypto Summit in Australia.
Moreover, Anthony Scaramucci says despite the fact that blockchain technology “seems clunky right now”; he envisages a bright future for the crypto sector. However, he believes that the largest impediment to the industry’s expansion is the “absolutely despicable” politicians in American leadership. Scaramucci remarked plainly that we (crypto community) should be extremely concerned if some of the current front-runners are elected President.
Scaramucci compared the blockchain’s early days to the early days of the internet, when webpages took 30 seconds to load.
He singled out Republican Senator Ted Cruz as the “apotheosis of hypocrisy” for what Scaramucci sees as his tendency to speak harshly about topics or individuals in private, but then speak favourably about them in public, such as Trump. The crypto community will undoubtedly hope that this tendency does not apply to Cruz’s views on cryptocurrencies.
Despite his reservations about politicians, Scaramucci believes the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) designation of cryptocurrencies as property makes it almost impossible to extinguish them in the United States. Furthermore, he considers President Biden’s most recent Executive Order to be “quite positive.” He stated:
“He believes that they have already passed the point where Bitcoin will be appropriately regulated and other cryptocurrencies will be fairly regulated here in the US for all of those reasons.”
