In October 2013, Booker became the first African American to represent New Jersey in the United States Senate. From 1998 to 2002 he served on Newark City Council and as mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013.
“Many Americans, including a sizable number of Black and brown individuals, have participated in the purchase and exchange of digital assets,” stated Senator Booker.
He further said that “The administration’s willingness to set up to this challenge and focus on the transformative power of Web3 is encouraging.”
Biden’s crypto executive order has been greeted positively by many in the crypto business. a D.C.-based think tank executive said. “The message I take from this EO is that the federal government sees cryptocurrency as a legitimate, serious, and important part of the economy and society.”
