On International Women’s Day, The Sandbox, an Animoca Brands subsidiary, and World of Woman, an NFT community that promotes diversity and equitable chances for all, announced a partnership. The Sandbox and World of Women announced the formation of the WoW Foundation in order to bring more women and diversity into the NFT and metaverse. The Sandbox will kick off the Foundation with a $25 million grant aimed at increasing women’s representation in decentralised web spaces.
The Sandbox will collaborate with World of Women to develop a series of interactive experiences that will be distributed through the WoW Foundation and will centre on four primary pillars. “Uplifting the ecosystem by supporting artists and sponsoring initiatives; teaching newcomers; communicating to give more prominence to women-centric concerns while inspiring others; and giving back to charities,” according to the announcement. The Sandbox, Animoca Brands, and Brinc will all benefit from the fund’s business development efforts.
The Sandbox is designed to assist creators in achieving success in Web3–beginning with mentoring. However, the support will extend beyond the funding of first mints to metaverse shows. The WoW Museum–a building on a 22 Sandbox property that will serve as a showcase for the foundation–and the WoW University, which will give free online lectures on how to get started with Web3–are two of the many activities that will support the fund’s objective.
Those interested in being certified and receiving a “NFT diploma” will be able to participate in a course in The Sandbox that will be taught through immersive experiences. In addition, the WoW Academy, a project and artist incubator, will give all levels of support, from guidance and funding to mentoring and access to The Sandbox and World of Women’s networks.
Wow! That is some good news for the Women. Happy Women’s Day.
