Ripple has the latest release 1.9.0 of the XRP Ledger. Version 1.9.0 of rippled introduces a new amendment to the XRP Ledger protocol that allows non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to be supported natively on the XRP Ledger (per the XLS-20 draft standard).
Today’s release also improves caching and has a catch (see what I did there?). 1/6 https://t.co/EisorI2tD6

According to the release notes, this amendment is now available for vote under the XRP Ledger’s amendment process, which allows protocol changes after two weeks of more than 80% support from trusted validators.
If passed, this might open the way for further NFT functionality, as developers can now create apps that enable users to mint, transfer, and eventually burn (if wanted) NFTs on the XRP Ledger.
David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO, said on the latest release: “Ripple validators will (for the time being) oppose bringing XLS-20 to mainnet until we are certain in the impact of NFTs on XRPL.”
“While we’re excited to contribute to NFT technology on the XRP Ledger, we’re also dedicated to its stability and scalability,” he said. As a result, today’s release includes a lot of performance improvements, and the ultimate outcome of XLS-20 will be chosen by the XRPL community.
