Reddit supports NFTs to be used as profile picture

It was reported in January that Reddit, a social media platform that bills itself as “the front page of the internet,” was testing a function that would allow users to post any NFT as their profile picture.

Reddit announced in early April that it had integrated ethereum-based NFTs into its platform. Reddit auctioned four NFTs on OpenSea for up to $400,000 apiece at launch. The only digital artworks that can currently be used as avatars on the platform are the NFTs auctioned by Reddit under the ‘CryptoSnoos’ collection. Other NFT owners will have to settle with utilising their profile images in jpg format. Customization of NFTs, on the other hand, is not allowed, restricting the possibilities available to users.
According to experts, the current restricted possibilities on the site are merely owing to the feature’s early testing phase. Many believe that once the integration is complete, it will allow users to utilise NFTs from other collections as avatars on the platform. It’s also possible that users will be able to mint NFTs on Reddit in the future.
As Reddit tries to stay up with the crypto industry’s innovation by including non-fungible tokens onto its platform, the use of non-fungible tokens will rise in tandem.
