Religious communities around the world have different opinions about cryptocurrencies which vary from careful approval to full criticism.
The debate became vigorous when recently a clip appeared claiming that Kirill, the leader of the Russian Orthdox church has encouraged his believers to invest in cryptocurrencies. The video contained genuine comments from the patriarch about Bitcoin (BTC) and the benefits of robotics to the economy. But the comments have been significantly edited and the narrator claiming that the patriarch will bless those who will invest in cryptocurrencies. However, Moscow Patriarch Kirill refuses the claims mentioned in the video clip.

“It wouldn’t happen to the sane person that the Patriarch would encourage investment in some sort of flyby night program,” Kipsize said, claiming that the fraudulent nature of the video was obvious.
Even in the Islamic world, which has its own policies and laws on finance, the acceptance of cryptocurrencies is far from uniform. At the end of last year, Indonesian religious authorities declared it “harmful” or banned. Its speculative nature and tendency to be suspected of fraud gives it the tag of “haram”.
