Hackers have continued to take advantage of a serious weakness in the cross-chain router protocol (CRP) Multichain, which was initially discovered on January 17.
Multichain asked users to rescind permission for six tokens earlier this week to protect their funds from fraudulent people.
However, after Multichain’s disclosure on January 17, other hackers attempted the attack. One stole USD 1.43 million, while the other promised to refund 80 per cent and retain the remainder as a gratuity. The stolen sum has now increased to USD 3 million, according to Tal Be’ery, co-founder of the ZenGo wallet.
On social media, many have criticised the corporation for not providing customers with adequate information or help about the problem. In exchange for the remaining cash, one user who lost USD 960k donated 50 ETH to the hacker’s address.
Multichain claims to be the ideal Web 3.0 router. The ecosystem allows no-slippage exchange and supports 30 chains, including Bitcoin (BTC), Avalanche (AVAX), Ethereum (ETH), Fantom (FTM), Litecoin (LTC), and Terra (LUNA).
