On April 22, Nissan and Toyota announced their entry into the Metaverse to provide customers with new virtual experiences, organise digital events, and establish virtual customer care centres. The use of the Metaverse by prominent brands and corporations has become a new trend. Nissan and Toyota, two of the world’s major automakers, have also decided to join this trend and dive into the world of Metaverse.
Nissan and Toyota to enter Metaverse with two different approaches
According to the Japanese daily Nikkei Asia, both firms are attempting to innovate in the Metaverse by utilising to provide immersive displays of their vehicles, owing to their collaborations with the video game developer startup VR Chat.
Customers will be the centre of Nissan’s virtual reality rooms. Toyota, on the other hand, will focus on remote working settings, constructing offices for its employees to debate technological breakthroughs using their avatars. Part of Toyota’s work sessions will now take place in the Metaverse rather than in the actual world.
According to a corporate official, this new job area is opening up as a result of the coronavirus’s troubles. It is stated:
“As more people are working from home because of the coronavirus, we are offering young employees and others communication options within the company.”
For the time being, Nissan and Toyota have not said which Metaverse they will open their new offices in, thus it will be up to the public to guess whether they will choose a centralised Metaverse like Meta’s or a decentralised one like Decentraland.
