Metaverse Wedding: US couple Ryan and Candice Hurley tied the knot in Meta style

The Arizona couple recently tied the knot in a very different style of “Meta- Marriage”. This is the first marriage that has taken place in the Metaverse. The bride and groom, named Ryan and Candice Hurley, created their digital identities and hosted the function with the help of “Rose Law Group.”

On February 5, a wedding ceremony took place in Decentraland, including with witnesses, Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick, and a virtual crowd of 2,000 guests. The law firm created a “meta-marriage framework” by including a “Virtual Premarital Agreement” that defined the couple’s virtual identities and digital assets as they were recorded on the blockchain.

Meanwhile, a “Meta-Marriage License” recorded and tokenized the couple’s virtual identities and marriage place as an NFT on the blockchain. At this function, the couple faced some technical challenges, like those related to visitors, which created challenges for the Decentraland. The gifts, which were in the form of NFT, were available for a very short period of time. After experiencing problems during the ceremony on Decentraland, one attendee pointed the crowd to Rose Law Group’s Instagram, where the real-world couple were sealing their vows via livestream.

The trending “Meta-Marrianges” are also seen in India, where, after the decision of a Tamil couple to host their wedding reception online in Metaverse, another couple has adopted technology by being married over blockchain. Anil Narasipuram and Shruti Nair of Pune married on the blockchain, making them the first in India. Anil revealed in a Linkedin post that he and Shruti had a “Registered Marriage” in a courthouse on November 15, 2021, because of the epidemic. Narasipuram and his wife Shruti Nair made their marriage “blockchain official” soon after their court marriage to secure their relationship in digital medium.
