Liverpool is reeling after its six-day Sotheby’s auction finished on April 4 with just 9,721 NFTs sold out of a total of 171,072 available.
The LFC Heroes Club Collection features cartoon avatars of the Liverpool squad. Token holders have “access to a variety of ongoing benefits.”
In addition, a portion of the revenues will be donated to the LFC Foundation. This independent organisation, among other things, supports sporting activities, health and wellness initiatives, and youth initiatives in the local region (and beyond).
Recently, players have made it obvious that they do not welcome NFTs because of the possible monetization tactics they give game producers. Sports fans have a similar opinion based on the low take-up of the LFC Heroes Club Collection.

The LFC Heroes Club Collection was up for grabs in a two-tiered auction. The “Legendary” auction included 1/1 NFTs of all 23 squad members, as well as first-team manager Jürgen Klopp.
All 24 Legendary lots were sold, with Mohamed Salah selling for the highest price of $88,200. Lot 1 was followed by Jürgen Klopp, who raised $81,900.
The remaining 171,048 NFTs were acquired in the “Hero Limited Edition” auction. This range also includes the squad, but each NFT is unique based on the background colour and “Match Mode, Fresh Mode, and Super Mode traits.”
