In August 2020, on twitter he informed that at the time he was owning zero bitcoins. He also informed about his loss in crypto trade which was about a quarter of a million dollars.

At the time of writing, the proprietor of the Barstool Sports blog’s post about buying 29 BTC for a million dollars had over 58,000 likes and 3,600 retweets on Twitter.
Many bitcoin enthusiasts cheered Portnoy’s return to the fold and backed his choice to invest a million dollars in the leading cryptocurrency.
